VOO Database Overview

Introduction

James Fisher Defence maintain a custom database which is used to track Vessels of Opportunity all over the world. Updated continuously, the database lists the live position of thousands of suitable Platform Supply Vessels, Ocean Tugs  or similar platforms.

This is linked to a comprehensive encyclopaedia which provides rapid access to important information such as deck space, propulsion and DP systems and contact details for operators.

In the event of an incident this allows suitable vessels to be rapidly identified 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world.

VOO Suitability Matching

To aid the process of VOO identification, the database has a pre-defined and constantly updated list of vessels that are suitable for different operation scenarios.

In the main image above, the database has highlighted the Pacific Ariki in red as being suitable for Submarine Rescue Vehicle (SRV) operations.

Vessel Information

If a vessel which has not been specifically pre-screened for suitability is selected as a potential candidate, the database provides instant access to detailed vessel information, including a specification, photographs and contact information.

Additional Information

Alongside vessel information, the database provides the JFD callout team with important logistical information to assist with the mobilisation of submarine rescue assets by road, sea or air.

For example, airfields are listed and identified on the basis of runway length and distance from ports.
