ROKS DSRV II

In December 2008, in a service onboard the ship "Choeng Hae Jin", the Republic of Korea Navy welcomed into service their newest Submarine Rescue Vehicle, "ROKS DSRV II".

Delivered by James Fisher Defence in an astonishing 22 months, ROKS DSRV II is a member of the highly advanced DSAR 500 Class of vehicles built by the company in Scotland, UK.

ROKS DSRV II will provide a world-class submarine rescue capability to the ROKN from onboard its dedicated mothership, the Choeng Hae Jin. The mothership has been fitted with the handling systems, decompression facilities and associated equipment that such operations require.

Pilotting the vehicle will be a team of ROKN personnel who have each followed JFD Operators through a rigorous and comprehensive Submersible training program.

Local Content

JFD's ability to maximise the use of Local Content was an inportant consideration for DAPA (Defence Acquisition Programme Administration) when sourcing a new rescue capability.

JFD maximised local content by sourcing the manufacture of the hull and the majority of the vehicle's exo-structure from new and exisiting partners in Korea.

New partners in Korea were also able to benefit from in-country training and support by learning new ways and techniques for working with HY80 steel and about the intricacies of manufacturing for pressure vessels.

ROKS DSRV II Key Features

  • Auto Depth
